Our Story
In 1983, a wonderfully daring woman named Phyllis Lockwood Geiger opened her own shop in a local neighborhood in Jacksonville, Florida. Naming the store after her son and daughter, “Peterbrooke” strove to bring joy to the world the best way Phyllis knew how: through chocolate.
Although using her own recipes and creations, Peterbrooke Chocolatier’s big beginning didn’t happen until their first Christmas, when asked to participate in a neighborhood holiday festival to hand out samples. Having nothing specifically for sampling, Phyllis went next door to the local movie theater and came back with a bag of freshly popped buttery popcorn. After pouring hand-tempered milk chocolate over the movie-style popcorn, everyone realized that Peterbrooke had literally struck gold— chocolate gold. Soon, Phyllis’ hand-crafted, European-style chocolate took flight. Almost 30 years later, and that vision of a Neighborhood Chocolatier hasn’t changed. We still use our original recipes and love the look on our guests’ faces when they take a savory bite of our creations. While our size may have grown, so has the size of our hearts. Our passion and desire to spread love and joy to the people around us drives our work and our creativity. Whether it’s from fresh chocolate covered strawberries to crunchy chocolate potato chips or sweet caramels, our experience has taught us one thing: "You don’t have to be from here to be part of the neighborhood" |

In 2007, Phyllis sold her Orlando Flagship to husband and wife team, Kevin and Jami Wray, who locally own and operate the store. They are supported by a strong team of talented, knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful chocolatiers who are dedicated to serving our guests.
